Stormy start to Countryfest: RCMP

With 30–40 mm of rain expected today at Countryfest, you might expect festival-goers to stick close to their tents and trailers.

But some are apparently getting a little cabin fever.

Dauphin RCMP said Friday morning that, in the past 24 hours they had hauled five people — all male — off to jail from the Countryfest site, and had been called a total of eight times to the site.

No charges were laid as a result of any of the incidents, but officers said they included an assault, four disturbances, two reports of impaired driving, and a hit-and-run.

There were no issues with any of the people lined up to get into the site.

Countryfest runs from June 26–29 this year.
