Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION

Sun today, but loads of snow after that

A brief respite today before Brandon is set to head right back into winter.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of -3 C with mainly sunny skies this afternoon — temperatures that feel mild but are still below normal. Last year at this time, we hit highs in the mid-teens, even cracking 20 C a couple of times.

This year, it's 30 or 40 degrees colder.

Clouds are expected to roll in late this afternoon, bringing about 5 cm of snow along with them, as temperatures fall to about -15 C.

Snow will continue most of Friday, too, with another 2–4 cm accumulating through the day. Temperatures won't moderate much, with a high of -12 C tomorrow afternoon.

As for the weekend, Saturday should see sunny skies, but it'll be cold, with a high of -10 C and a low of -21 C. Sunday will bring even more snow, with a high of -8 C and a low of -23 C.

Sun returns for early next week, with Monday and Tuesday highs around -9 C and lows around -20 C.

Temperatures will be a couple of degrees warmer on Wednesday, though there's a chance of even more flurries.

The normal high for this time of year is -1 C. The normal low is -11 C.
