A man with bloody hands has been charged with smashing a vehicle window. He also faces an assault charge.

Police were originally called to a townhouse complex in the 3700-block of Victoria Avenue at about 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, where a resident had reported a disturbance outside.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle with a smashed window, but no one was around.

About half an hour later, a motel in the 3500-block of Victoria reported that a drunk man was inside with bleeding hands.

Police say they were pretty sure that he was responsible for smashing the vehicle window, but he was too drunk to be questioned, and he was taken to the Brandon Correctional Centre for the rest of the night.

Later in the day Sunday, police were called by a woman who owned the damaged vehicle. She told them that their suspect had not only smashed the window, but that he had assaulted her by hitting her with a speaker.

A 28-year-old Brandon man is to appear in court on Jan. 20 on charges of assault with a weapon and mischief to property.
