Suspicious man report leads to two arrests; drugs involved
A Brandon man was charged with possession of Marijuana under 30 grams on Saturday.
The 27-year-old was stopped after police received a report of a suspicious man in the 300-block of Douglas Street late Friday night. Police attended and a short time later located a man that fit the description in the area of Riverview School. The man was detained and during a search several small bags of marijuana were located, totalling 13 grams.
During the same incident, while police were arresting the man near Riverview School, a large group of people gathered nearby and began heckling the officers involved. As the group moved closer, one man continued to disobey officers’ orders by continue to approach the police.
In an attempt to diffuse the situation, police moved one block over to complete the process of detaining the suspicious man, but the second man refused to let the officers do their job, following them to the new location and continueing to interfere with the officers. After repeated warnings, the drunken man persisted, forcing officers to arrest him and transport him to the Brandon Correction Centre.
A 29-year-old man was charged with obstructing a peace officer.
