Teen arrested after knifepoint robbery in Dauphin

A 17-year-old boy is in custody after an armed robbery in Dauphin early Wednesday morning.

Around 1:15 a.m., officers from the Dauphin municipal RCMP were called to a business on Main Street, where a robbery had just been reported. A lone male had entered the business, armed with a knife, and had demanded money.

The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect ran off. The clerk wasn't hurt.

About 40 minutes later, a person matching the description of the suspect was spotted walking near Dauphin's downtown. After a brief foot chase, officers managed to arrest a 17-year-old boy from Pine Creek First Nation.

They say their investigation continues, and the boy remains in police custody.
