An 18-year-old man was beated and robbed last night by two teenagers, one of whom had a knife.

Police say that they were alerted to the in-progress assault by a passer-by who spotted it happening in the 600-block of Park Avenue. Officers who responded say they found the victim in the area; he had been slightly hurt, but didn't require medical attention.

He told police that he had been confronted by two suspects, one with a knife, who beat him up and stole his wallet, which contained a quantity of cash.

Police later spotted two suspects matching descriptions that the victim had given, near the Brandon Curling Club in the Keystone Centre grounds.

They were arrested and police say that the victim's wallet and a quantity of cash were recovered. Police also found a knife and a hammer on the suspects. Neither weapon had been used in the assault.

A 15-year-old Sioux Valley boy and a 16-year-old Brandon boy were both charged with robbery and assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Both youth were held in custody and were to appear in court this morning for a bail hearing.
