Three more arrested under warrant crackdown

A special warrant detail organized this week by the Brandon Police Service nabbed another three people yesterday, bringing the total number of arrests to 11.

A 23-year-old Brandon man was to appear in court this morning on charges to mischief to property and breach of Probation.

A 16-year-old girl from Sioux Valley First Nation was to appear in court this morning on charges of five times breaching her probation and of failing to attend court.

And a 51-year-old Brandon man was to appear in court this morning on a charge of breaching probation.

At the start of the week, Brandon police said there were more than 300 people wanted under outstanding warrants.

Warrants can be issued when police have a suspect for a particular crime and are ready to lay charges, but can’t find their man or woman. Probation officials can also seek warrants for people accused of breaching probation. In addition, a judge can issue an arrest warrant when a person fails to make a required court appearance.
