Three shoplifters nabbed Thursday

Police arrested one shoplifter Thursday afternoon, and then another two a few hours later.

Officers were called to a business in the 900-block of 18th Street North at about 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, where a 34-year-old Brandon man had been stopped for stealing food worth about $100. Police arrested him, charged him with thueft under $5,000, and released him with a court date of Oct. 6.

Then, just past 5:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called to a business in the 900-block of Victoria Avenue, where a woman and a teenage girl had been caught trying to steal a large quantity of cosmetics and electronics. Police say that the total value of the items they tried to pocket was about $850.

A 27-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, both from Ebb and Flow First Nation, were arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. They were jailed overnight to appear in court Friday morning.
