Traffic stop nets drugs

A missing license plate led police to a cache of drugs yesterday morning.

Police say they pulled over a car at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, in the 1400-block of First Street North, since it didn't have a front license plate.

However, as they were speaking with the driver, officers say they could smell marijuana from inside the car.

After searching the car, police found a total of about 21 grams of marijuana, along with three dozen ecstacy pills, more than $350 in cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

An 18-year-old Brandon man was arrested and is to appear in court on Nov. 8, on charges of drug possession and trafficking.
