Traffic stop turns up drug dealer

A Brandon man faces drug-dealing charges after police spotted him driving oddly.

They say officers were on patrol at about 10:30 p.m. on Canada Day in the 400-block of Princess Avenue when they saw the vehicle being driving "in a peculiar manner." They pulled him over and, while speaking with the driver, could smell the strong odour of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

A search quickly turned up some pot, plus pills and cash. The drugs were worth an estimated $400 on the street, police say.

A 23-year-old Brandon man was arrested and released after being charged with possession of drugs for the purposes of trafficking. He's to appear in Brandon court on Aug. 7.
