Three former Brandon students lived the musician’s dream last week, performing in New York City at prestigious Carnegie Hall.
Sarah Hallikas, Annelise Hawrylak and Mitchell Wedgewood appeared on the world renowned stage February 18th with Toronto’s Eastminster United Church Choir, a 30-voice ensemble selected to take part in a musical production by Distinguished Concerts Singers International.
"It was thrilling, amazing," Hallikas said. "Our audience even graced us with a standing ovation. That may have been the most exciting part — a standing ovation at Carnegie Hall. Check that off the to-do list!"
The three are all former Brandon University music students who are continuing their education in Toronto.
Michael Kim, dean of the university's music school, says he couldn’t be more pleased. "This is a remarkable opportunity for anyone wanting to make a life of music. Brandon University is proud of Sarah, Annelise and Mitch and wish each of them continued success."
