Truck being taken wouldn't start

A would-be thief went to the trouble of pushing a pickup truck from the rear parking lot to the driveway, but the joke was that the truck wouldn't start.

Police say they located the truck's owner after a caller complained at about 2:40 a.m. this morning that it was blocking the driveway of an apartment complex in the 600-block of Eighth Street.

The owner, who was inside, said that the pickup, a blue 1972 Chevrolet, didn't run, and had been left parked in the rear lot of the building.

Police say they continue to investigate.
