Brandon police arrested two people overnight Thursday after they were caught in breach of their respective court orders.

The first was spotted in the 2400-block of McTavish Avenue at 11:30 p.m. When officers stopps to check on him, though, the 16-year-old turned out to be under a 9 p.m. curfew. He was arrested and jailed overnight, and was to appear in court Friday.

Then, just after midnight, police were alerted to a suspicious person who appeared to be checking vehicles in the 1000-block of Ninth Street. An 18-year-old man was located in the area and found to be in possession of change and a cellphone, which police say he admitted he had stolen from a vehicle.

He was initially arrested for possession of property obtained by crime when a search turned up a small knife. Police say he was on a youth probation order to not possess any weapons.

He has since been released from custody with more conditions and is to appear in court on July 3.
