Police made two arrests on Sunday after a pair of unrelated domestic assaults.

The first happened in the morning, when police were called to an east-end home where a woman said that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend. An argument over money turned into a struggle, but she was able to lock him out of the house, and police scooped him up outside.

A 22-year-old Brandon man was held overnight at the Brandon Correctional Centre, to appear in court Monday. He was charged with two counts of assault — including one for allegedly shoving a boy at the home who had tried to intervene.

The second assault was reported late Sunday evening, when a concerned third-party called police to report that a woman had been beaten up by her roommate. Officers found the victim outside her home in the 1000-block of 26th Street; her accused assailant was arrested inside the apartment.

A 41-year-old man was held overnight to sober up, police say, and was to be released Monday with a court date of July 10. He faces a charged of assault causing bodily harm.
