Investigators continue to probe the cause of a house fire in Brandon that sent two people to Winnipeg hospital early Wednesday morning.

A neighbour says he heard a loud bang before a house fire early this morning that injured two.

Investigators have said that the two people were flown to Winnipeg for treatment of their burns. It's the third house fire in Brandon in a week.

Firefighters were called to the fire at about 3 a.m. this morning, in the 600-block of 12th Street. Although neither the cause of the blaze nor the exact extent of the damage have been determined, there are reports that it broke out in the back of the home before spreading.

Police remained at the scene into Wednesday afternoon.

Brandon Fire and Emergency Service captain Wade Ritchie told the Sun that the two people had "non-life threatening" injuries.

The fire comes a week after two other residential fires in Brandon broke out within a half-hour of each other, on Tuesday, June 25. Firefighters pulled two people from a smoke-filled apartment at one of the homes. They were taken to intensive care. At the other fire, no one was injured, although a woman was later charged with arson and disregard for human life.
