UPDATE: Fatal accident near Virden

A 14-year-old boy was killed Wednesday night, after the dirt bike he was riding collided with a vehicle west of Virden.

RCMP say the crash occurred around 8 p.m., at the intersection of Highway 257 and Provincial Road 252, about 13 kilometres west of Virden in the Rural Municipality of Wallace.

Officers have since established that a southbound dirt bike on Provincial Road 252 crossed Highway 257 when it collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by a 36-year-old female from the RM of Wallace.

The victim, an RM of Wallace resident, was taken to the local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His name is not being released.

The RCMP Virden Detachment, assisted by an RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist continue to investigate.  The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
