Vehicles targeted in Brandon's south end

Police say a spree of vehicle break-ins in Brandon this week are likely related.

More than half a dozen vehicles were entered and rummaged through, with plenty of small items stolen, police say. As well, the keys to a number of vehicles were taken from a south-end auto dealership, and someone drove off in an unlicensed truck.

All the incidents were reported Thursday to police, and are believed to happened overnight from Wendesday.

The first report came from a machinery dealer in the 1900-block of Currie Boulevard, where the fenced compound had been broken into and two employee vehicles had been rummaged through. It's not known if anything was taken from these vehicles.

Later, though, police received at least five other calls from the area, where residents found other vehicles that had been entered, rifled through, and had items taken.

A pair of binoculars and a camera were taken from a 2005 Pontiac G5 in Brentwood Trailer Court. A wallet (later found nearby by a neighbour) wa stolen from a 2005 Pontiac Vibe in the 1900-block of David Avenue. Some CDs and apartment keys were taken from a 2007 Toyota Tundra in the 1600-block of Patricia Avenue. And a 2007 Honda Odyssey had been rummaged through in the 2200-block of Lyndale Drive.

Police also say that the owner of an auto sales business, in the 2100-block of Lyndale Drive, found several sets of keys stolen, after a door to the sales office was forced open.

A silver 2008 GMC four-door pickup was missing from the lot. It was unlicensed.

Police say they continue to investigate.
