Police came up empty-handed in their attempt to track down a man who tried to car-jack a vehicle downtown and then chased the victim with a knife.
Officers were called yesterday evening after someone approached a parked motorist downtown under the guise of asking for a cigarette. The man then pulled out a knife and demanded the vehicle.
Although the driver was able to get out and flee, they were chased a short distance by the man with the knife before being able to get away uninjured.
Officers tried to locate the suspect in the area, but weren't able to. They say it remains under investigation.
