Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION

Welcome to summer — for the start of the week, at least

Sure, you may have woken up to snow on Saturday morning, but those memories wil melt away under the heat of summer-like warmth this afternoon.

Environment Canada says that Brandon can expect a high of 24 C this afternoon, with mostly cloudy skies that clear early this afternoon.

Tomorrow will be a near-repeat, after lows overnight of 5 C, with a mix of sun an cloud throughout the day and a high of 25 C — hot enough ot break a 1982 record of 23.7 C. However, there will be a risk of a thunderstorm tomorrow evening. Winds will also pick up tomorrow, becoming south at 20 km/h early in the afternoon, and then northwest at 30 km/h into the evening.

Sunny skies are in the forecast for later in the week, but temperatures won't be quite as warm.

Wednesday's forecast high is 16 C, with a low of 7 C, and the mercury plunges from there. By Thursday, the high is predicted to be just 6 C, with a low of -8 C and Friday's high could be just 9 C with a low of -3 C.

The normal high for this time of year is 13 C and the normal low is 0 C.
