Brandon has tumbled — a lot — in the annual MoneySense rankings of Canada's best places to live.
After years in the Top 10, the city is now lucky to make it into the Top 100.
MoneySense released its 2013 rankings this morning. Brandon was ranked No. 91, just above Thunder Bay, and just behind Dollard-Des Ormeaux, Que.
New methodology this year may have cost Brandon precious points. MoneySense says it now ranks cities based on household net worth, property tax, nice weather, movie theatres and how close they are to an airport serviced by either WestJet or Air Canada.
Brandon lags in many of the new categories, although it continues to do well
Elsewhere in Manitoba, Winnipeg and Steinbach both topped Brandon's rank.
Winnipeg was named 16th-best city in the nation, and was the No. 5 top large city. It was also the 10th best place to retire.
Steinbach ranked 61st in the country.
Brandon does have some pride left. Both Portage la Prairie (No. 160) and Thompson (No. 164) did worse.
