The Brandon Wheat Kings pulled off a major trade during the Western Hockey League Bantam Draft on Thursday, sending veteran forward Brenden Walker to the Saskatoon Blades.

Walker, who will be an overager next season, finished third in team scoring with 81 points, including 26 goals, in 68 games. In return Brandon received the Blades' second-round pick in Thursday's draft, a second-round choice next year and a third-rounder in 2014. The second-round pick (35th overall) was used to select defenceman Tanner Browne of Kelowna, B.C.'s Program of Excellence.

The Wheat Kings chose Calgary forward Braylon Shmyr with their first-round selection, picking 12th overall.

Shmyr had 38 goals and 69 points in 33 games for the Calgary Bisons of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League this season and was named the South Division's most sportsmanlike player.
