"Maybe they cops should replace the slogan building relationships with the catch and release because thats what our justice system is."
There isn't a comment on this article that isn't as on point as this one.

Poor Police Work should be the new slogan.
The New Chief makes Jack Ewatski look like General Rommel.

@Bill
"the new cruisers look more aggressive, less friendly, and meaner..."
yeah, and maybe they should substitute the emergency siren for a friendlier ice cream truck sound effect too...

The "Building Relationships" motto on the back of the cruiser literally looks crooked. The motto itself, which is probably (and hopefully) intended to admit to a "deficiency" on the service's part, seems to be in contrast to the authoritative black-and-white anxiety inducing colors that have been reinstated.

You said: Gilbert G Fiola, 99% of people posting in forums use pen names. It is not a custom police officers invented.
Yes I am well aware of that &/or it also means the police have a tool which is a pen/avatar/blog name etc to comment with while being in a direct conflict of interest on a subject as a result of commenting to a media article under a pen name(s) etc...and...
And or that the police can also be anonymous other then with what they chose as a pen name(s) they have chosen to comment with etc...and...
And then you said: Pen names have a long tradition in literature and reporting. And they are even more important now when our comments (yours and mine) are preserved and searchable for years.
Yup!!! When I googled your pen name SnowDog456 I got to see how often or where you comment etc with your pen name &/or what I did not get to see or specifically find is your real name, address or what you do for a living/profession while I googled your pen name etc ...and...
And that is also because I simply haven't got the resources the WPS have to find out what your real name is etc instead of your pen name used etc...and...
And then you also said: A wise comment now can seem really inappropriate 20 years later.
Yup or also perhaps a visionary comment when one comments such things as where is all this non sense in the City of WPG all taking us & could that be to a Police City/State in less then 20 yrs from now etc?...GGF

@momof2...
I read my comment again and I still feel the same as do many other people who've made a post on this article.
I thought of going through all 100 or so comments and telling you just how many are displeased with their (WPS) latest campaign but I just don't have the time right now. I just would like to say how displeased I am. It has angered me and I am willing to bet that most of the commentators on this thread are angry too.
This means of course that I am guessing, without knowing the exact numbers, that you as a supporter of this campaign are in the minority--if I am wrong then I am wrong and am willing to admit it.
WPS should be out chasing the real criminals, period. Maybe if they mobilized as much staff for a campaign on more serious crimes as they did on these 'minor' infractions then Winnipeg wouldn't have the title of "Murderpeg" or a name like it. Perhaps it is because of poor police work that Winnipeg has a bad reputation for crime.
PS
WPS won't catch me again :)

the new logo looks great, but i really don't understand the need for a motto change. i think this was a big waste of money.
and to all the people complaining about the spike in ticketing - STOP SPEEDING & THEY WON'T HAVE ANYONE TO TICKET.
