Woman walking hit by pellet-gun shot

A Brandon woman was hit by a pellet gun last night, while walking along the 300-block of Lorne Avenue.

Police were called just before 11 p.m., but the incident happened about 15 minutes earlier.

The woman was walking down the street when a large black car drove past her. She heard several popping noises coming from the vehicle and she was struck in the upper body by some sort of projectile. She didn't need any medical attention.

No better description of the vehicle or its occupants was provided, and police say they couldn't track anything down in the area.

Police continue to investigate.

HenHouseRooster:

The Airforce "Condor" Airgun can fire a .22cal pellet @1300fps.
At 75% power, the following video shows the pellet completely penetrate through a METAL DOOR!

Even more frightening are the "big bore" airguns.
Pyramyd Air's "Sam Yang Big Bore 909S" fires a .45cal SLUG @730fps and penetrates a CONCRETE BLOCK with a muzzle energy of @237ft/lbs (exceeding a .22cal rifle)!

What should scare EVERYONE are the modifications that can be done to every pellet gun.
Everything from exceeding original manufacturer's pellet fps/muzzle energy to SILENCER attachments!

THESE WEAPONS HAVE NO PLACE IN AN URBAN SETTING AND SHOULD BE BANNED WITHIN CITY LIMITS.

Also Solidus, .177 cal pellet guns have a max mv of 490 fps. .22 cal pellet guns have a slower max mv of fps. These figures mean you can purchase these pellet guns in Canada without a firearms licence. Any firearm in Canada, including pellet guns with a mv of 500 fps or more require a firearms licence to purchase.....same as live-ammo firearms. I had to clarify that as I had not mentioned it in my first comment. Soooo, I guess in a way you and I are both correct. Indeed, pellet guns can be deadly in the wrong hands. I wish you safe and happy shooting!!

Sorry Solidus.....pellet guns max mv is 490 fps. .22 LR is 1255 fps mv.

How SICK are some individuals becoming within society?

Let us ALL be vigilant and on the LOOK OUT for these COWARDLY, PATHETIC excuses for a human being in a long, black car.

This is DISGUSTING, APPALLING and totally INTOLERABLE behaviour!

I hope BPS don't bury this file.
Modern pellet guns are as powerful as a .22LR rifle and can penetrate sheet metal.
