Woman robbed at knifepoint

A woman is out her backpack, jacket and smartphone after she was held up while walking near 18th Street and Rosser Avenue last night.

Police didn't report any injuries after the robbery, which happened about 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday and was called in shortly after.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman, had been walking near that intersection when she was approached by a male with a knife.

The suspect allegedly threatened the woman, and demanded her property, before making off with the phone, black jacket and backpack. He reportedly fled in a dark-colored pickup truck.

Police continue to investigate and are looking for a male who was described as five-foot-five, with a slim build and aboriginal in appearance. He was wearing a dark hoodie and a hat, with a blue bandana covering his face.

It’s at least the second recent incident targeting female pedestrians in Brandon. Early Sunday morning, a woman leaving a business on west Victoria Avenue was knocked to the ground in an attempted robbery. The two suspects in that case fled empty handed.
