Two local women were assaulted in a west-end home early this morning, after an argument turned violent. Officers have a man in custody.
Police were called at about 3:30 a.m. to a home in the 600-block of 34th Street. They say the two women, one 53, the other 51, were in the home with a 40-year-old Regina man, who had been drinking. After the group began arguing, it's alleged that the man turned violent.
He's said to have choked one of the women while striking her repeatedly, and threatening to slit her throat.
Although he attempted to flee, he was nabbed by police in the back yard.
The suspect was to appear in court this morning to face multiple charges, including two counts of assault, threatening to cause death, choking to overcome resistance, and breach of recognizance.
