Flooding fears begin to fall

Dikes between Winnipeg, Portage hold as eyes turn toward lakes

Heavy rains in western Manitoba and Saskatchewan recently have raised the level of the Assiniboine River, causing it to overflow its banks, flooding roads and farmers' fields.
