Brandon residents are asked to keep a watch out for a wayward feline that has somehow managed to get its head stuck in a bird feeder.
Toni Gramiak, a volunteer with Brandon and Area Lost Animals, says the cat had been spotted with the attached bird feeder by a fence in a yard on Cornwallis Crescent on Wednesday morning.
"When people tried to get the cat, it ran away," Gramiak said. "And animal control searched twice, but couldn’t find it."
The group is concerned for its welfare because the animal is quite skinny and likely can’t eat or drink. The animal can only see past the bird feeder with one eye, Gramiak says.
"The cat probably stuck its head into the bird feeder to get food out of it."
Large humane wire traps have been deployed to try to catch the animal, but as of 8:30 p.m. yesterday, the animal had not been found.
The cat is described as an adult orange and white tabby cat. If anybody has taken the cat into safety or spotted it, please call the group at 204-724-7033.
