Holmes brings firm to Manitoba

One of the country's best-known home contractors -- Mike Holmes -- has expanded his home-inspections service into Manitoba.

Mike Holmes Inspections (MHI) announced last week it now has approved inspectors ready to begin performing home inspections in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.

"MHI is officially in Winnipeg!" Holmes said in a news release. "I've been wanting to get my guys here for a while. But finding the right professionals to deliver our service isn't easy. We need to make sure we do it right."

"We wanted to be fully operational in Winnipeg by spring in order to catch the peak homebuying season," added MHI director Ashley Shojaie.

Ontario-based MHI has undergone significant growth over the past year, having also opened offices in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

The release said local customers can book an inspection either online or by calling the company's customer service division. It said all MHI inspections will also include Recall Chek, a service that verifies whether or not a recall has been issued on any of the appliances in a home that's being inspected.
