On April 16, Vincent Massey High School students and staff celebrate their first seven days of the “21 Ways to Enjoy Life More,” a Youth Revolution project led by Y-R member, Julia Cullen.
Last month, Youth Revolution members from Vincent Massey High School started a project called "21 Ways to Enjoy Life More."
Inspired by the resources from the Winnipeg RHA, the project is intended to promote good mental health among children, youth and adults.
The "21 Ways to Enjoy Life More" booklet was also sent electronically to all the schools in the Brandon School Division, in order to target the adults in the division’s schools.
For 21 days, each individual needs to focus on a daily task, such as recognizing the positive things that happened during the day or thanking their loved ones for being part of one’s life.
"Sometimes, we need to be reminded to take care of ourselves and enjoy all the gifts and opportunities life presents to us ," said project leader Julia Cullen, a Grade 12 Youth Revolution member at Massey.
Every Monday, project participants got together and enter in a draw for the number of days they followed the tasks, with prizes being Booster Juice gift certificates. The grand prize was some healthy snacks from Safeway.
The Youth Revolution is an initiative of the Brandon Community Drug and Alcohol Education Coalition, which is supported by Health Canada and several sponsors, such as Healthy Brandon, Healthy Schools, Tim Hortons, the City of Brandon, and many more.
