Chic Gamine plays at Poor Michael's in Onanole

Juno Award winning group Chic Gamine dwell in that realm between music that holds you in awe of the talent and beauty infiltrating your ears, and music that just makes you want to dance like a hooligan, and rock the hell out with the ones you love best. And now you can do all that next Tuesday in Onanole when they take to the patio stage at Poor Michael’s Bookshop as part of the emporium’s summer concert series.

Chic Gamine has played with R&B royalty, opening for Smokey Robinson and sharing a lineup with Mavis Staples. They’ve had main stage slots at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Calgary Folk Festival, Regina Folk Festival, Strawberry Folk Festival, Dawson City Music Festival, California World Fest and festivals in the UK and France, among others. At the heart of the group is a trio of astonishing voices. Their sound is crafted with offbeat new ideas that are all churned into something exhilarating and just beyond contemporary.

Advance tickets for the July 15 concert are $25 at Poor Michael’s, poormichaelsbooks.ca or 204-848-0336. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and don’t forget your hat, jacket and mosquito defence. The show moves inside if it’s raining.
