The production team that brought Annie to Westman audiences is delighted to put their skills and talents to use at this year’s Mecca Summer Camps.
Sing, dance, act and create this July and August with some of Westman’s top arts educators.
Since 2001, Mecca Productions has offered the young and the young-at-heart opportunities to make friends, create, discover and build community through the creation of top-quality musicals and after school classes.
We’re delighted to bring the same fun to Summer Camp! You’re invited to discover and develop your talents and self-confidence as you prepare for a Friday afternoon performance. This summer there are two great weeks of camp!
Week 1 (July 9-13) is the week for young campers in pre-school to Grade 3. Each day will be filled with songs, dances, dress up, crafts, games and stories as we prepare for our mini-musical “How To Be A Pirate” Friday afternoon.
This year’s instructors are Stephanie Bessant and Bernadette Njegovan. These two ladies love children — and music — what a great way to spend a week. Wanda Nicol, an early years’ educator and music specialist, and Lisa Vasconcelos, the director of Mecca Musicals, will also be helping during the week.
This camp is unique as it offers young children the opportunity to explore and grow in the arts with experienced educators.
Week 2 (Aug. 20-24) is the best week of the summer — just ask any child who has ever come to Mecca Camp! Each day is filled with classes including musical theatre, stage dance, show choir, drama, choir, improv, props and masks and more. Our show Friday afternoon for family and friends is sure to impress.
Students in Grades 1-10 are divided into three groups to allow them to take classes with various instructors throughout the day. Laughter, new friends, and improved choral, theatre and dance skills are all part of the fun.
Our instructors are all actively involved in arts education and have years of experience and knowledge to share. Instructors this summer include Lisa Vasconcelos, Katherine Sherris, Monique Roy-Keller, Kristen Yuel, Stephanie Bessant, Kaila Weimer, Kara Dixon and Tiana Vasconcelos.
Registration fee for both camps includes a t-shirt and lunch on Friday. Visit our website www.mecca-productions.com for more information or to download a registration form.
Contact Lisa Vasconcelos (lisavas1@gmail.com or 573-7521) with any questions. See you at camp!
