Happy New Year! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, a joyful holiday season and 2013 is off to a great start.

Before we get too far into this fresh new year, let’s look back at how the best tunes in the radio world from last year stacked up. It’s always fun to see where the best of the year rank.

This time, however, you get the opportunity to put a face with some of the voices that have, or currently grace the Westman airwaves during various shifts.

Thankfully this group of my radio compatriots from around the dial have made up their lists. The first one is comprised of the top 10 singles from their station and its particular music format; the other is made up from their personal Top 10 faves of last year.

So grab a cup of coffee and peruse these lists to see where your favourites of 2012 rank among those provided from this group of former and current Wheat City radio personalities.

Top Ten Best Singles of 2012

1. Carly Rae Jepsen - "Call Me Maybe"

I called "hit" the second I heard it. Without question. Happy the rest of the world agreed.

2. Jay-Z & Kanye West - "In Paris"

Jay-Z and Kanye West together. ‘Nuff said.

3. Drake Feat. Lil’ Wayne - "The Motto"

Never get tired of this track. Bass is heavy and thick, just the way I like it.

4. Ke$ha - "Die Young"

Most people wrote Ke$ha off, but she’s back on the map.

5. Deadmau5 -- feat. Gerard Way - "Professional Griefers"

Video rules. If I was a UFC fighter or professional wrestler, I’d also want this as my entrance music.

6. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz - "Thrift Shop"

Very clever and well done song. Plus the video is priceless!

7. Maroon 5 - "One More Night"

I chose this song from Maroon 5 because it proves that they don’t need guest appearances (ie. Christina Agueilera, Wiz Khalifa) to have a huge hit.

8. Swedish House Mafia - "Don’t You Worry Child"

Too bad they finally gained mainstream attention after their decision to break up.

9. Nicki Minaj - "Pound the Alarm"

I crank it everytime.

10. Psy - "Gangnam Style"

Don’t understand the words, don’t care.
