Job-hunters should have a field day April 23-24 during the Virden Recruitment Expo 2012 being held in the town’s new multi-purpose recreation facility.
Forty booths will be set up, with 37 of the participants recruiting new employees.
Sponsored by the Virden Employment Skills Centre and the Virden Chamber of Commerce, the Expo has grown to include oil field companies, job opportunities in oil field service, agricultural companies and government agencies, as well as training opportunities at Assiniboine Community College and various apprenticeship programs.
Companies will be hiring for all levels of positions, from general labourers to administrative positions, says Peggy Foy, project manager for the Virden Employment Skills Centre — there’ll be “something for everyone.”
“Those planning to attend the Expo should bring multiple copies of their resume, any training certificates or safety tickets and they should be prepared to do a quick on-the-spot interview, and be ready to talk to several different companies,” she said.
“We’ve heard from a few organizations that they’re preparing their people, sending them for training and getting their resumes in order.”
The Expo takes place April 23 from 1-7:30 p.m. and April 24 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
