Sabres soar to the AA top

There was a wee bit of jubilation in the Steinbach gymnasium after the Elton Sabres clinched the provincial AA varsity girls high school volleyball championship Nov. 30, defeating the Killarney Raiders 2-0 (25-23, 25-17) in the final.

There was a wee bit of jubilation in the Steinbach gymnasium after the Elton Sabres clinched the provincial AA varsity girls high school volleyball championship Nov. 30, defeating the Killarney Raiders 2-0 (25-23, 25-17) in the final. The girls managed to compose themselves somewhat for the team photo, but the smiles and gold medals said it all. Courtney Fines was named the tournament’s MVP, while teammate Courtney Clark made the all-star squad.
