Since its founding in 1998, the Brandon Chamber Players has gathered local musicians together for four yearly concerts of classical chamber music.
Recently, BCP has expanded its offerings to include intersections with jazz, popular music and musical theatre.
Please join us for another outstanding season of concerts. The remaining three include:
l“Reflection, Remembrance and Revelation,” Lorne Watson Recital Hall, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m.: This All Souls’ Day concert features Messiaen’s “Quartet for the End of Time,” composed when he was a prisoner-of-war in Germany, and Pat Carrabre’s “Crazy,” an exploration of the Orpheus myth through the poetry of Rilke, Goethe and Shakespeare.
l“Music and a Movie,” Evans Theatre, Feb. 2, at 7:30 p.m.: A live performance of Beethoven’s heroic “String Quartet No. 10 (‘Harp’)” will be featured alongside a screening of “Immortal Beloved,” a cinematographic interpretation of the life and death of Beethoven and the mystery surrounding his elusive “Beloved.”
l“West Side Mania!,” Lorne Watson Recital Hall, April 22, at 8 p.m.: To bring the season to a rousing finale, the Brandon Chamber Players and guest artists present an arrangement of songs and dances from Bernstein’s “West Side Story” and hilarious selections from Peter Schikele’s “Liebeslieder Polkas.”
“The Brandon Chamber Players have been an important part of Brandon’s cultural scene for many years, and enjoy a very special, symbiotic relationship with our community and Brandon University’s School of Music,” said music dean and BCP board member Michael Kim.
“One of Brandon’s true cultural treasures, this upcoming season features a plethora of performers and repertoire that would be the envy of many larger centers and communities.”
Tickets are available at the door on the night of the concert (7:30 p.m. rush seating), or in advance at the School of Music office at 204-727-9631. Seating is limited, so advanced purchase is strongly recommended.
