Canadian director and cameraman John Driftmier died in a plane crash while shooting footage for a documentary series in Kenya, according to Montreal-based production company Pixcom.

Driftmier, 30, was killed Sunday morning while working on the show "Dangerous Flights," said Pixcom.

The series, which was filming for a second season, details the work of pilots delivering small used planes — which are often in rough shape — to customers around the world.

The pilot of the small plane that crashed on Sunday was also killed.

Driftmier, who was based in Ottawa, also worked on the shows "Ice Pilots NWT", "Highway Thru Hell," "Licence to Drill" and "Monster Moves."
