Chilina Kennedy withdraws from Stratford Festival due to pregnancy

STRATFORD, Ont. - Theatre star Chilina Kennedy has withdrawn from the upcoming Stratford Festival season because she's pregnant.

The festival in southwestern Ontario says the New Brunswick native is expecting a baby with her partner, Jacob James.

Kennedy, who played Mary Magdalene in the 2011 festival smash "Jesus Christ Superstar," was to star as Polly Baker in this year's "Crazy for You" and Aldonza in "Man of La Mancha."

The festival says Toronto-born Natalie Daradich, who recently played Glinda in the U.S. tour of "Wicked," will replace Kennedy in "Crazy for You."

It will be Daradich's festival debut.

Newfoundland native Robin Hutton will replace Kennedy in "Man of La Mancha" while also playing Irene Roth in "Crazy for You."

"Crazy for You," directed and choreographed by Donna Feore, starts previews on April 21.

"Man of La Mancha," directed by Robert McQueen and choreographed by Marc Kimelman, begins previews May 8.
