Croatian designer Damir Doma presents mature, slouchy elegance at France Fashion Week

PARIS - Croatian designer Damir Doma was back on top form for fall-winter 2013-14 in a show that saw his slouchy style get an unexpectedly elegant makeover.

"Neo-corporate" was how the Raf Simons alumni described his smarter looks backstage.

Although cropped futuristic tunics and zippered shift dresses aren't exactly run-of-the-mill office attire, the sleek long silhouettes were a welcome turn that saw Doma's vibe get more sophisticated.

Autumnal shades produced a cohesive harmony in most of the wearable 31 looks.

Doma's repertoire isn't normally associated with the word harmony. But if there's any worry that the Antwerp cool-kid is now grown up, mature and boring — fear not. The usual Doma DNA was still here, if muted.

Boxy jackets and classical menswear touches like stacked Chelsea boots as well as masculine fabrics like perforated wool and lacquered leather kept a fashion edge.

"Yes, it's sophisticated," Doma said. "But she's a rebel deep inside."
