TORONTO - The designer best known for his iconic red-soled shoes is bringing his famous footwear to a special Toronto exhibit.
French luxury designer Christian Louboutin is slated to bring his retrospective exhibition to the Design Exchange beginning this summer. Canada will be the first stop on what is expected to be a global tour.
The exhibition earned record attendance at London's Design Museum and promises to offer an up-close look at Louboutin's inspirations and unique designs.
"The Design Exchange is thrilled to offer Canadians the unique opportunity to look into the creative design process behind such a desired brand," Design Exchange president Shauna Levy said in a release.
A section of the exhibition will also be devoted to shoes Louboutin created for the 2007 "Fetish" exhibition produced in collaboration with acclaimed artist and filmmaker David Lynch.
Initial sketches, raw materials and recreations of Louboutin's Paris-based studio are also set to be incorporated.
"The focus of the exhibition is for guests to get up close and personal with every stage of Christian's design journey, ultimately revealing how Louboutin shoes have come to represent style, glamour, power, femininity and elegance around the world," exhibition curator Donna Loveday said in a release.
The exhibition is set to run at the Design Exchange from June 21 to Sept. 15.
