Former Edmonton high school teacher apologizes for sex assault on student

EDMONTON - A former Edmonton teacher has apologized in court to a student he admits to sexually assaulting nearly ten years ago.

Harvey James Klok, who is 48, pleaded guilty in December.

Klok used to teach at a Christian high school.

His lawyer said Friday that Klok is not a risk to the community, so he should just get a conditional sentence of 12 to 15 months of house arrest.

The Crown wants up to a year of actual jail time, plus two years of probation.

The judge will hand down his decision on May 12.
