Health officials say Saskatchewan at turning point in unusual flu season

REGINA - Health officials in Saskatchewan are urging people to get immunized against the flu before Feb. 10, when the supply of nasal vaccine expires and extra clinics will close.

Dr. Denise Werker, the province's deputy medical health officer, says the province is at a turning point.

Werker says if people aren't immunized soon, they might not be protected for a second wave of flu in March, because the vaccine needs two weeks to work.

The number of flu-related deaths remains unchanged in Saskatchewan from last week and sits at 16.

Werker says there are still people in intensive care and one of the new admissions is a child under the age of five.
