Helicopter trying to rescue 2 snowmobilers southwest of Calgary near B.C.

TURNER VALLEY, Alta. - A helicopter had to be used to rescue two snowmobilers in rugged terrain southwest of Calgary.

RCMP say they got a report at 7:45 a.m. Friday of overdue snowmobilers southwest of Turner Valley.

Two officers went out on snowmobiles, but when they got to the area, the men were not there.

Eight hours later, the snowmobilers activated an emergency beacon.

The officers searched and found the people, but couldn't get to them due to what they call difficult terrain.

Emergency Services from Kananaskis Country sent in a helicopter, which lifted the snowmobilers out to safety.

They are reported to be in good health.
