Brandon Fire and Emergency Services members administer first aid to a CN employee who was injured by a train at the CN yards just east of First Street in Brandon on Wednesday morning. The male was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A Canadian National Railway worker was taken to hospital on Wednesday after he was hit or run over by a train.
Around 10:45 a.m., police were called to the CN rail yard east of First Street and Van Horne Avenue with a report of a pedestrian/train collision.
Police confirm that a man was taken to hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries but no specifics of those injuries were given. He was later transferred to Winnipeg.
A CN spokesman didn’t say much, and only confirmed that an employee was injured while on the job at the Brandon yard.
Based on the observations of a Brandon Sun photographer who was on scene, the injuries appeared to be to the man’s legs.
Transport Canada reports that it’s investigating to see if there were any safety deficiencies or violations of the Canada Labour Code.
