Holiday closings

The Brandon Sun would like to wish readers a happy and safe Labour Day long weekend. Here’s a list of open hours for some important services this holiday weekend:

Your newspaper

• The Brandon Sun won’t publish on Labour Day Monday, but will resume its regular publication schedule on Tuesday.

City of Brandon

• The Civic Administration Building and Civic Services Complex will be closed on Monday. They will resume regular hours on Tuesday.

Transit

• Regular buses won’t run on Monday and the information centre and the Transit office will be closed.

• Handi Transit will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Travel

• Buses at the Grey Goose-Greyhound bus depot. Call 204-727-0643 for times.

Liquor Marts

• Today — The Victoria Avenue Liquor Mart is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., the Shoppers Mall location from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the Corral Centre store from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Sunday — All Liquor Marts in Manitoba will be open for regular hours. Brandon Liquor Marts: Victoria Avenue, noon to 6 p.m.; Shoppers Mall, noon to 5 p.m.; Corral Centre, noon to 6 p.m.

• Monday — All Manitoba Liquor Marts will be closed, including all Brandon locations.

Privately owned liquor vendors in rural Manitoba are subject to arrangements within their own municipalities.

All licensed premises, including hotel beer vendor, may be open for liquor service.

Health

• Brandon Clinic — Will be closed today, Sunday and Monday.

• Brandon Clinic West — Will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Sunday and Monday.

• Newmount Medical Clinic — Will be open today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., but will be closed on Monday.

• Wheat City Clinic — Will be open today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

• Western Medical Clinic — Will be closed today, Sunday and Monday.

• Trinity Medical Clinic — Open today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is closed on Sunday and Monday.

• Rhema Clinic —  Will be closed today, Sunday and Monday.

• Brandon Clinic Pharmacy — Will be open today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on Sunday and Monday.

• Miller’s Pharmacy — Will be open today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. It will be closed on Monday.

• Wheat City Pharmacy — Will be open today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday.

• Medical Centre Pharmacy — Will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and closed on Sunday and Monday.

Garbage and Recycling

• There will be no garbage collection on Monday. Tuesday will be Day 5 of the garbage collection cycle.

• The Eastview Landfill Site will be open today and Monday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

• The Eco Centre for used oil, oil filters and oil container disposal is closed on Sundays and all statutory holidays.

Canada Post

• Canada Post offices are closed on Monday, and there will be no regular mail delivery and collection that day. However, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.

Shopping

• Shoppers Mall will be open today from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The mall will be closed on Monday.

• Shoppers Mall hours don’t necessarily affect the hours for Smitty’s Family Restaurant and Lounge. Call 204-571-3160 for open hours.

• The Town Centre is closed on Monday.

Brandon Public Library

• The library will be closed today, Sunday and Monday. Starting Sept. 8, the library begins its fall through spring hours, which means it will be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
