2010 statements set to be filed

The City of Brandon’s 2010 financial statements are headed to its auditor’s desk this week after many months of work by the city’s treasury department.

City manager Scott Hildebrand reported to city councillors on Monday that the auditors will continue to review the statements on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. When those reviews are complete, they will be submitted to Manitoba Local Government.

“Once those are filed, the 2011 statements will be filed shortly after.”

Hildebrand said while he anticipates the city will report a surplus in its 2010 financial statements, it is not known how large that surplus will be until the statements are officially complete. He noted the surplus will be reported to the public once the statements are officially filed.
