26 arrests, stabbing investigation keep police busy over weekend

Along with 26 reported arrests on Friday and Saturday, city police investigated a downtown stabbing which lead to two arrests.

Brandon Police Service said a 56-year-old Brandon man suffered non-life threatening injuries to “upper body” just after 6 p.m. Friday night. The man was treated and released from hospital later in the evening.

The two accused, ages 25 and 29, have been jailed and will appear in court Monday morning.

The 29-year-old is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of recognizance. The 25-year-old is facing a single charge of aggravated assault.

Meanwhile, the 26 unrelated weekend arrests were for a number of reasons, including breach of the peace, consuming alcohol under the age of 18 years, breach of court orders, and on outstanding warrants of arrest.
