Construction at the railway crossing has closed a section of 26th Street between Pacific Avenue and McDonald Avenue.
Drivers beware: One of just four places for drivers to cross the CP Rail line through Brandon will be closed until Friday, forcing extensive detours for some in the west end of the city.
The rail crossing on 26th Street, between Pacific Avenue and McDonald Avenue, will be completely replaced, including ties, ballast, rails, walkways and asphalt.
That section of 26th Street was closed at
4 a.m. on Tuesday and is expected to stay shut until 5 p.m. on Friday.
Detours are in place. For drivers, the only other rail crossings, which connect the north and south halves of Brandon, are at First Street, Eighth Street and 18th Street. Pedestrians and cyclists can also cross the tracks at 34th Street.
