5-Pin Bowling - 10-year-old on fire with six consecutive strikes, 300+ game

The Westman Youth Challenge Zone Championships were held Nov. 4 in Carberry. Congrats goes out to Sarah Bradshaw and Keaton Ruckle for winning the ladies’ and men’s zone titles.

Sarah will be part of the ladies’ team, also consisting of Trina Walker, Cassie Mackie, Tara Leigh Turner, Emily Bradshaw, and coach Rayann Paddock. Rounding out the men’s team along with Keaton are Shane Swarbrick, Myles Graham, Jesse Gordon, Braden Orchard, and coach Victor Lavich.

Both teams will be competing at the Manitoba Youth Challenge Provincial Championships Dec. 1 at Winnipeg’s Mosienko Lanes. Good luck to all of you!

We also want to send a congrats out to Jayme Paddock of Carberry. This 10-year-old Youth Bantam Bowler, with his Mom Rayann watching in excitement, threw six strikes in a row, a 10th frame spare and strike, and finished with a 327 single game! This is not only his first 300 game in five years of bowling, but also Carberry’s first 300 game of the season — very exciting!

Also on Nov. 4 was the third Manitoba Masters Teaching Division event at Academy Lanes in Winnipeg. Congrats goes out to Michelle Brown who finished sixth with a +96 on the ladies side, and to Jerry Sayer, who finished second on the men’s side with a +140. Jerry currently sits second overall on the men’s side after three (of six) events with a +283.

Brandon Bowlers of the Week are Rob Orchard of the Smitty’s Men’s League with a +120 and Coralee Baker of the Monday Provincial Mixed League with a +158. Both win dinner for two at Huggie’s Restaurant. Congrats Rob and Coralee!
