A record sellout for Dauphin's Countryfest

With big names like Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley, it’s no surprise that Dauphin’s Countryfest sold out its 2013 festival in just one day.

Weekend passes went on sale Monday at 9 a.m. and were sold out by 7 p.m., making it the fastest-selling day on record.

“It’s really exciting for us, we’re real pleased,” said event promoter Rob Waloschuk. “Countryfest has sold out many times, but never that quickly.

In addition to the headliners drawing the crowds, the fact that people could buy tickets online for the first time likely helped speed up the sell-out.

The 24th annual music festival runs June 27-30.

All weekend passes are sold out, however there will still be some day passes to be released on Nov. 26, on sale at 9 a.m. at countryfest.ca, by calling 1-800-361-7300, or in-person at 28 Second Avenue NE in Dauphin.

“When it’s all said and done, VIPs and everything … If we sold out all of those we’d be sitting at 14,000 people,” Waloschuk said.

The lineup for the four-day festival includes Econoline Crush on June 27, Dierks Bentley, Kira Isabella, Kip Moore and The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer on June 28; Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Thompson Square and Don Amero on June 29 and Carrie Underwood and High Valley on June 30.

Underwood won favourite country album at the American Music Awards held on Sunday, while Bryan snagged the favourite country male artist award.
