Coun. Jan Chaboyer (Green Acres) listens as Coun. Jeff Fawcett (Assiniboine) poses a question during Monday evening’s city council meeting.

In addition to what has been reported in the Brandon Sun this week, the following is a summary of other items addressed at the Brandon City Council meeting on March 4:

• Coun. Shawn Berry (Linden Lanes) provided a brief verbal update on behalf of the Keystone Centre board, which continues to experience an extremely busy winter schedule of capital upgrades and planning for the upcoming Royal Manitoba Winter Fair. Berry noted that meetings are anticipated later this month with the executive of the Arabian Horse Association and the consultant group undertaking the Keystone Centre land-use study.

• Council approved the appointments of Coun. Jim McCrae (Meadows) and citizen representative Mark Frison as chair and vice-chair of the Brandon Police Board, respectively. Their terms of office will expire on Dec. 31. As per the board’s decision, the appointment of the chair and vice-chair will be reviewed on an annual basis.

• Council approved the appointments of Leo Boivin and Colleen Anderson to the planning commission, with terms of office to expire on March 31, 2016.

• Council passed a bylaw to rezone property at 3000 Richmond Ave. East from DR Development Reserve to MG Industrial General. The change will facilitate the private development of a building and yard for Tri-Wave Construction.
